Emotional effort, as the variable level of effort employees make to modify their emotions or behavior according to display rules, was assessed using Hospitality Emotional Labor Scale (Chu & Murmman, 2004). To assess specific job characteristics we used items from Diefendorff, Richard and Yang’ study (2008).
