I had a feeling I was getting shut off at 85, so I made sure to really take my time on those last few questions. I passed at 85. I don’t know anyone that has failed at 85. I have also heard that an exceedingly small percentage of people fail at 85. It’s like 1% or something close to that. Pass or fail, the test has to be 95% sure of its decision, and 51% is effectively a passing score. So, it’s pretty hard to fail the NCLEX at 85.For others, it could take 85, 100, or even the full 145 questions. Just because the examination shuts off at 75 questions does not mean that you have automatically failed. In fact, it could mean just the opposite, which is exactly what happened to me.
