The 4.5 XDm slide/frame will also swap in these calibers. Not sure about 4.5 to 3.8 (some one else has to check that). All the XD frames in these calibers are identical. The XDm frames in 4.5 are identical in 9mm and 40SW. XD and XDm are not interchangeable. I was in a local gun shop and saw a 9mm XDm with the OD Green frame and stainless slide. Looked interesting. I have a XDm with black frame and stainless slide. I would just need the OD Green frame with black slide to do the same thing. I bought a Storm Lake "Conversion" barrel in 9mm that I can swap out my .40s&w barrel on my XDm. But, it must be a Conversion barrel. You can't put an ordinary 9mm XDm barrel in the XDm40 slide.
