Velka's rapier.

I've been trying out the Velka's Rapier and I'm liking it.(The moveset is just..... GODLY) But I do have some questions... Does it have a higher critical? It says 100 but is it like the estoc where it actually has more than it says? Do you need poise to use it? I was going to use it on my no poise build, but I just want to make sure.I consider rapiers: Rapier, Estoc, Mail Breaker, Ricard's Rapier and Velka's Rapier 1) Do they really have a hidden riposte/backstab bonus? 2) As a left hand weapon, are they better/on par/worse than Buckler/Target Shield for parry windows? 3) As far as riposte/backstab go, are they better than other piercing swords?Other rapier-class swords (Estoc, Velka's,...), though still rapiers, don't have crit as high. For high sl, from 90 onward, pump Dex to 40, Vit and End to what u're comfortable w/ (ppl in this range usually have 1200 - 1600 hp). That leaves u enough sl for Sorcer or Faith investment for buffs. Velka's Rapier has a decent moveset, but it can't be buffed and deals split damage. But hey, the other 3 options? Solid. The Estoc has the best range and a moveset with more variety, (R2’s do a slash instead of a thrust), plus, it does a tad bit more stamina damage. Solid, though it is just a fraction slower than the normal Rapier.Every rapier has its specialty. Rapier for critical hits, estoc for general-purpose physical damage and also slashing attacks, Ricard's rapier for extraordinary many-hit combos, and Velka's rapier for an intelligence benefit that isn't dependent on a temporary spell effect.

And as for Velka's Rapier, It has only ever been effective, for me, on a DEX + INT build, in which case Velka's Rapier is a very good choice. So just choose the weapon that fits your playstyle best! The inherent weapons with Dex & Int scaling are Velka's Rapier, titanite Catch Pole, and Channeler's Trident. The Moonlight Greatsword of course has immense intelligence scaling. Velka's Rapier has an occult auxiliary effect against certain enemies.
